Bore Brushes

What did one brush say to the other brush?...I'm bored!

Gordon Brush® offers a variety of different types of bore brushes, also sometimes called chamber brushes, to help you get the best clean every time and supply you with the right tool for the job for which it is intended. A bore brush is a cylindrical brush to clean the inside of a wall or bottom of a tube or a hole. The tube can be a pipe, a firearm, or any other cylindrical receptacle that needs to be cleaned.

The selection of the correct bore brush to clean your receptacle is based on several key factors/specs of your receptacle. These factors include: the overall length, internal diameter (ID), composition, and use. Another important consideration is whether the brush would need to be attached to a tool to insert it in and out of the receptacle.

The type of fill material selected is critical to ensure maximum cleaning and minimal damage to the internal composition of your cylindrical receptacle. In some cases, the material of the block of the bore brush is also critical to the pipe being cleaned.

Gordon Brush® designed and developed a chamber brush to clean the main gun on the Abrams tank and for various howitzers.  This bore brush saved the United States Army $1.5 billion. Gordon Brush® received a letter of commendation from the United States Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) for the development of this brush.

You too can get the same quality of cleaning brush for your business from America's favorite brush manufacturer. Shop our custom bore brush section today to make your very own personal utensil, just like the US Army did!

To Catch a Criminal

"Grab your gear", barked Federal Agent, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, to his team, played by actor Mark Harmon, from the CBS hit television show, NCIS, "we have a dead marine". Any crime scene, whether it be a murder or a robbery requires an investigation. The science used to help solve crimes is called forensic science. The investigation is designed to uncover evidence that can be used to identify the victim or the suspects perpetrating the crime. The evidence can take on many forms, including: the murder weapon, gun shells, gun residue, body fluids (DNA), and fingerprints, to name a few.

Fingerprints are one of the oldest and most common types of physical evidence found at a crime scene. Fingerprints are left behind almost every time something is touched. Since every person has a unique set of prints, they are a great tool for identification.

Some fingerprints are visible; you can see marks left on a surface by dirty or oily fingers. Dusting is usually used for this type. Other prints are latent; you can't see them, but there are marks left by sweat, amino acids, and other organic residue from fingers.

In recovering latent impressions there are numerous products available for the task. One of the conventional methods is called mechanical development. Mechanical development is the use of a brush and powder to physically dust the surface. This technique allows the particles of the powder to adhere to contaminates. The mechanical development is for nonporous items and surfaces.

Gordon Brush® manufactures three types of brushes for recovering latent impressions: (1) Fiberglass (super fine for soft brushing action); (2) Natural hair (Squirrel, Goat, horse hair); (3) Feather brush (are made with the finest Marabou feathers to easily dust powder or fine particles from the area of interest).

Rest assured that, if you commit a crime, Gordon Brush's most wanted line of forensic and fingerprint brushes will be used to land you on law enforcements most wanted list.

With over 17,000 different kinds of brushes for every industry imaginable, Gordon Brush's premium line of American made stock or custom brushes will do the job for which they are intended™. If a brush exists, we have it…if it doesn't, we'll make it!
